NY, NJ, CT direct out-of-state travelers to quarantine because of COVID-19

New this morning: New York State, along with New Jersey and Connecticut, have issued a joint travel advisory for anyone traveling from "high-risk" states to quarantine for fourteen (14) days. The states currently that are under this order include Florida, Washington Alabama, Arkansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Utah, and Texas. This order will apply to travelers from states that have identified 10 residents that have tested positive for COVID-19 for every 100,000 residents on a seven-day rolling average. The order goes into effect tonight - there are no restrictions upon travel to or from these states. Violations of the quarantine may include fines.

This, in addition to updated state guidance, was included in the Relentless COVID-19 Update sent to clients and partners periodically. Want to be included? E-mail [email protected] to learn more.

The Democratic governors of the three states said they will order travelers from states with high COVID-19 rates to isolate for 14 days upon arrival.

This year - like every year - is an election year. From your local government, local library, schools, and your representatives at the state and federal level, it is important to not only register to vote, but to exercise your right to vote.

Oftentimes, many believe that electing the president is the "biggest election," but rather what happens at the local and state level plays a larger role in everyday life. How roads are paved, how public services are administered (police, fire, sanitation, etc.), the quality of education, and recreational opportunities all happen at the local level.

Register to vote if you haven't done so yet. Vote early and often - school and library elections are in May, party primaries in June, and general elections in November. Don't forget special elections to fill vacancies can also happen, so make sure you are an informed voter.

Register to vote or update your voter information online.

#WindowSessions, a project of Lark Hall, will commence tomorrow night (Friday, May 29). Window Sessions with The Wheel.

#WeAreLarkSt

Window Sessions, the first official performance series presented and hosted by Lark Hall, will open on Friday, May 29 with a performance by The Wheel. The series will also serve as a fundraiser for Feed Albany.

“As every venue and theater has had to identify ways to recalibrate, as a new venue, we decided that this would be a great way to introduce our space to musicians and artists,” said Justin Miller, co-owner.

“Through Window Sessions, we’re able to support not just a great cause in that of Feed Albany, but to add some much needed vibrancy back to Lark Street,” noted Jennifer Miller, co-owner.

The innovative performance series will simulcast performances to YouTube and Lark Hall’s social media channels, in addition to amplified through the venue’s historical windows. In compliance with state guidance regarding entertainment, only the musicians and essential personnel will be allowed. On-street listeners at the corner of Hudson Avenue and Lark Street may listen, so long as they are social distancing and not impeding upon sidewalk right-of-way.

The Wheel is a five-piece rock-n-roll band covering mostly music of the Grateful Dead. Founded in 2010 by Andy Morse looking to play to his roots of years chasing the Grateful Dead and current incarnations around, he formed The Wheel. More information about The Wheel can be found at TheWheelBand.com.

Viewers and listeners can visit Lark Hall on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube for the feed starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 29. Additional performances will be listed on social media. To donate to Feed Albany, visit feedalbany.com.

From the Saratoga Performing Arts Center this morning.

‼️ For the first time in its 53-year history, SPAC has announced the cancellation of its 2020 classical season. This does not include Live Nation concerts (they will make their own announcements).

“So much thought, care, heart and soul go into crafting and preparing for our summer season that we truly think of it as a love letter to our community. To find it necessary to cancel what would have been one of the most ambitious and artistically inspiring seasons to date is just gut-wrenching and inconceivable. But the indisputable truth is that even with our park setting and our 5,200 seats, it would be simply impossible to find a way to keep the artists and the community safe.

That said, SPAC leadership is committed to continuing to provide the kind of inspiring and transformative experiences for which SPAC is known and loved. Our dedication to art, artists and community is undimmed. If anything, we feel more galvanized than ever to serve as a sanctuary and cultural convener for our community during this time of uncertainty and darkness."

We're proud to be one of the first donors to the Creative Impact: Capital Region Artists Fund - presented by Acting with Aaron, Albany Barn, Albany Center Gallery, The Arts Center of the Capital Region, Collectiveffort, Creative Action Unlimited, D. Colin, Youth FX, with support by Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region and United Way of the Greater Capital Region.

As we continue to navigate these uncertain times due to the detrimental impact of COVID-19, many artists across all disciplines have found themselves without work altogether or with a substantial part of their income gone. Demands for gigs, gallery work, performances, exhibitions, commissioned projects, workshops, and art sales have all rapidly declined over the past couple weeks and for the unforeseeable future. This fund was created to help alleviate some of the financial stress many are enduring. Payments to artists will be in the form of $100 Visa Gift Cards and will continue to be distributed to artists until funds have been depleted. At this time, there is a limit of one payment per artist to ensure fair opportunity for the magnitude of artists in the region. The more that is raised, the more that can be given to artists.

Proud of our friends who are part of all of these amazing organizations for teaming up to making this tremendous initiative a reality.

04/05/2020

Yankee Distillers has announced the release of its first batch of hand sanitizer. The first batch is available at its Clifton Park, N.Y. distillery.

Yankee’s hand sanitizer is available in both 16 oz. pump-top bottles for $10 and 64 oz. refill bottles for $35.

Yankee will continue to allow customers to fill any container they bring it for 50 cents per oz. from a sealed tank in the tasting room. For those bringing in their own containers or using Yankee’s refill bottles, consider filling spray bottles as they work great in these containers and it makes it easy to control the amount you're applying – in addition to use as a surface disinfectant.

So we've bottled our first batch of hand sanitizer, and it's available at the distillery NOW. We'll continue to offer to fill any container you bring in, for just $.50/oz, including tax, from our sealed tank in the tasting room, and we now have 16oz pump-top bottles and 64oz refill bottles available for $10/$35, including tax, as well.

Our product is excellent- it's an 80% ABV Antiseptic Handrub, produced using a formulation consistent with World Health Organization (WHO) and U.S. Food and Drug Administration guidance. It's not a thick gel- it's thinner, and it disappears quickly as you rub your hands together, without drying them out.

If you're bringing in your own container for us to fill, or picking up the 64oz jug to refill containers at home, consider filling spray bottles- it works GREAT in these containers, and it makes it easy to control the amount you're applying, and to use as a surface disenfectant.

We're very proud to be able to offer this product, to be able to do what we can to help keep you and your family safe, and we're very grateful to the New York State Liquor Authority, the TTB, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for their quick action to provide guidance, and eliminate regulations and fees, making it possible for us to provide this potentially life-saving product as quickly as we could.

We'll ask you to help us make this first batch last until we can produce / acquire the raw materials for our next batch- we're trying to limit purchases to 64oz per household / 1G per business for now. If any business owners / buyers need more for their larger organizations, please email us at [email protected], and we'll make arrangements with you to keep you stocked with the product, and protect your employees and customers, for as long as it takes.

Stay safe, folks. We hope to see you.
