Everyday Artist - the story:
I have been a bit of a paradox for as long as I can remember - wrestling with the combination of perfectionism and the ache to color outside of lines. One day as I was sketching a rough portrait of my daughter, I saw something absolutely beautiful in its unfinished state. There were lines that didn’t make sense, there was structure and also a freedom that gave it life. I did something that I never do; I put down my pencils, took in the curves and shades with a breath of contentment, and decided that it was perfect. Like an epiphany, the words “Everyday Artist” came to me. I believe with everything in me that there is beauty in all things. In the messy, the mundane, the glorious, the imperfect, the broken, the innocent, the painful, the everyday... there is magic in the ordinary, in between moments. They define us.
The spark of joy that twinkles in the eyes of a child, the creases etched by years of laughter and worry, the effervescent gleam of someone hopelessly in love - all of these stem from the moments that make us. It is my passion and purpose to capture and commemorate them.
"I am going to make everything around me beautiful - that will be my life." Elsie de Wolfe
