Dear Friends,
I created Cabaret Life Productions in early 2015 when I transitioned from being a cabaret show reviewer to a cabaret show publicist, producer, promoter and performer. I had the incredible pleasure of representing and working with a couple of dozen wonderful cabaret performers and producing more than 30 solo or variety shows at various cabaret rooms in New York.

As I intend to drastically reduce my activities in the cabaret scene going forward, I've decided to deactivate the page as of Monday, August 31. I really appreciate all of the more than 850 people who "Liked" this page and supported many of my cabaret projects. Thank you all very much.

Sincerely,
Stephen Hanks

Thrilled that my client Jeff Macauley's Dinah Shore Tribute Show he revived in my Cabaret's Greatest Hits series is again a Bistro Awards pick with this glowing praise: "Earlier in February, Jeff Macauley brought his 1988 Bistro Award-winning tribute to Dinah Shore back for one performance; it was so enthusiastically received, an additional performance has been scheduled. His shows are always delightful and entertaining, meticulously researched and informative. In this offering he gives us an astonishing amount of information about the recording and TV star, and with his considerable wit and charm, he succeeds in making this course in Dinah 101 at once interesting and very funny. He sings some twenty songs, all of them delivered with affection, and his rendition of the complete version of “See the U.S.A. in Your Chevrolet” is marvelous—sincere and enthusiastic, with nary a trace of smart-assery." Come see this charming show at the Metropolitan Room on March 1 at 7 pm.

'Folks, you ain't heard nothin' yet!' That is the iconic quote of the legendary Al Jolson, who was called 'The World's Greatest Entertainer' through the first half of the 20th century and was arguably the first American pop superstar. Billie Roe of BroadwayWorld.com raves about Julie Reyburn's FATE IS KIND in CLP's New York Cabaret's Greatest Hits Series at the Metropolitan Room.

I first saw Julie Reyburn in her 2011 cabaret show Winter Songs, where she wonderfully explored in music the beauty of winter from its cool, autumnal evenings to the somber tranquility of a snow fallen night. It was a terrific act. So I was excited when Reyburn announced she would reprise her 2000 c…

My lovely client Charlotte Patton gets a great review from Mark Dundas Wood of the Bistro Awards.

The title of Charlotte Patton’s Metropolitan Room show, “Celebrating Men (Bless Their Hearts),” captures the tone of the evening perfectly. Tony Babino

I'm thrilled to announce that my Cabaret Life Productions has booked the terrific Tony Babino into 54 Below on November 3 at 7 pm for his show "Tony Babino Sings Songs From The Jolson Story."

“Jolson billed himself as the world’s greatest entertainer, and Mr. Babino shows us why nobody argued with him. He replicates not only that amazing voice but Jolson’s essence and even soul from the inside out. Mr. Babino makes Jolson come alive in a way that hasn’t happened in over 60 years.”
--Will Friedwald, The Wall Street Journal

“Discovering the great talent of Tony B was a joy in itself. He has more than a lovely voice, he can project it to encompass others, like Jolson. It was as if Jolie were back again!” --Late Legendary Composer Ervin Drake

Native New Yorker and Internationally acclaimed vocalist Tony Babino performs a tribute to Al Jolson, once called “The World’s Greatest Entertainer,” in a new show titled Songs from The Jolson Story, the famous 1946 film that created new generations of Jolson fans. Mr. Babino, who is well known in his own right for his performances of tunes from The Great American Songbook (Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, and more) has received critical acclaim for his uncanny vocal sound that is akin to the legendary Jolson but yet not an impersonation. Also known as “Tony B,” he is the headliner for all worldwide events held by the International Al Jolson Society (www.jolson.org).
In addition to the Jolson Society, Tony has recently performed the classic songs of Al Jolson at the New York Friars Tribute to Connie Francis, Joe’s Pub, The NY Sheet Music Society, and Dana Lorge’s Variety Show at the Metropolitan Room. Last year, Tony was also featured singing like Jolson in the hit video game BIOSHOCK Infinite and has been selected by the family of legendary composer Harold Arlen to represent the song “I’ve Got The World On A String.” Tony has also had his voice (as well as original songs), featured in movies, TV, radio, and commercials.

BREAKING NEWS FOR CABARET PERFORMERS: After just over four years as a "soup-to-nuts" Cabaret Show Publicist/Promoter, I've decided to stay in the game with a scaled down, affordable model called CPR--"Cabaret Press Rep." If you're simply looking for a publicist to do the heavy lifting on press releases and getting the word out to the Cabaret Media and Reviewers, give me a shout and I'll give you the details beyond what's outlined here. By the way, the "Resuscitation" doesn't involve mouth-to-mouth. ;)
