As you might imagine, so many of our neighbors are in crisis right now. The need is immediate and great.

If you could, take a moment and share with others about this opportunity to literally make a positive difference in someone's life with a small contribution. Just by sharing a post on your page you can provide the necessary medicine, transportation, housing and food for a family that is making the impossible decision between food and shelter.

Thank You and Merry Christmas

Imagine living out of your car with no abilities to take a shower or wash your clothes.

How about having a seizure at your job and not being able to return until you get back on your anti seizure meds, which you can't afford.

Breaking down while driving to your destination state without the money to get you back on the road.

A mother with 5 children who's escaped a domestic violence situation, but has nowhere to go.

Needing food to get by for a week, but the rent is due.

What do these 5 instances have in common? They all given a hand up by the Cookeville Human Fund. What is the CHF? A non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that was founded by Cookeville Police Officer Marc deClaire. This organization is an innovative way of problem solving in Putnam County. An immediate response to a short term need or solution that requires a small amount of financial assistance. If your business, organization or church wants to be represented and have a booth handing out candy to the kiddos at Hip Cookeville's 2020 Cookeville Treat Trail at The River Community Church from 4-7 on Saturday, October 31 we need to know quickly for planning purposes. You can contact us by calling or texting 615-330-8917 to reserve your spot or email us at [email protected] or message us on Facebook. This will be a drive through only event.

We will also be launching HipCtv at this event with a fun and hopefully ridiculous live broadcast from the event that will include Halloween shout outs and performances from well known local artists and if you want to be included in our live "Batty Chat" interviews let us know ahead of time. It's just a few silly questions to introduce you to the community and entertain the folks waiting in their cars.

Additionally, if anyone wants to just donate some bags of candy to the event, let us know and we can make arrangements or you can drop off candy at the Biz Foundry at 114 North Cedar anytime between 9 and 5 through Friday.

We very much regret to inform our community that the Music City Stones performance scheduled for CPAC on Saturday October 24 has been cancelled. We have basically become the latest casualty of the Covid surge in our community. All ticket sales will be refunded immediately and we will definitely work with the band to bring the show to town as soon as possible. Please contact CPAC at 931-528-1313 for any additional refund information.

We appreciate the community support for our efforts always. We all share a common desire for a great quality of life. We are a resilient community and ask that in this time that each and every one of us exercise our freedoms with the utmost in personal responsibility and compassion towards our neighbors. Check in on your friends, go out of your way to purchase a little something more from a local business and give a lot of grace to anyone you encounter. Stay Hip!

We leave you with this passage from J.R.R. Tolkien:

“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

Folks have been asking so here is a way to give to the effort to produce PPE for Front Line Health Care Professionals in the Upper Cumberland who otherwise don't have easy access to this important gear. This is a PayPal link.

Specifically right now we are producing face shields primarily at the Biz Foundry at 114 North Cedar Avenue in Cookeville, Tennessee. We need to expand our capacity rapidly.

Every cent received for this purpose will be used to purchase materials and additional 3D printers according to which resource is needed most. This is not tax deductible as a charitable donation.

Please share if you feel led.

Transfer money online in seconds with PayPal money transfer. All you need is an email address.

Ok, prototype 1 is complete... There will be a link in the comments to the site to get the file to make these visors at home if you have a 3D printer.

Ours are made at 98% due to the size of a printer we have so if you make yours at 98% as well they will fit perfectly with the plastic face guards we produce. We can arrange to pick them up or you drop them off when you have a decent quantity.

These are going to be first given to our local front line medical personnel. If we can get our capacity up we can go beyond that.

If you prefer and are able we can borrow your 3D printer and use it to produce at The Biz Foundry at 114 North Cedar in Cookeville. We have lots of plastic printing material. If you prefer to produce at home instead that is cool too. Let us know if you want to let us borrow a printer.

We are making the face shields at Biz Foundry so we can make sure each fits properly. We have found a way to use clear transparency sheets like are used on overhead projectors for the shields. If you have some of those sitting around please let us know and we can pick them up. Supplies are very limited in the stores. The mylar we will use to cut some shields on a laser printer will arrive next Tuesday.

Thank you for helping us care for our local front-line medical personnel, nurses and doctors as they battle against this virus.

Given the number of Tennessee Tech Alumni, Jake Hoot and Judah & the Lion fans across the country combined with President Trump visiting the disaster zone tomorrow, we hope you will help us share this opportunity to give and participate with a worldwide audience.
