Observations from the dining room table

It's safe to say 2020 hasn't been the year most of expected - or wanted. But as we prepare for what seems like our 812th Zoom call of the week, our strategy and insights director Emily Florio reflects on this "new normal" and the habits she hopes we keep.

Like all of us, I was not prepared to spend the spring in quarantine.

1,200 meals in the month of May.
Thanks to our own Chris Sekin for his generous donation, and to everyone who donated to the Dinner Bell Foundation, the nonprofit was able to raise $6,000 and provide meals to 1,200 front line heroes. This donation and match was made in honor of Chris’ mother, Rita, who continues—even from heaven—to impact lives all over the city of Dallas.

This Memorial Day we remember all the heroes who have served for our freedom. One of the ways we like to give back to our veterans and military personnel is by partnering with nonprofits that serve these groups, such as the Freedom Mobility Foundation. This organization works to give the freedom of mobility back to heroes who have been impacted by physical impairments.

Ring the Bell - Johnson and Sekin

Our very own Kent Johnson discusses the importance of purpose-driven businesses and our work with the Dinner Bell Foundation. Read more in our latest blog post.

I have always believed in doing the right thing for the client. That if I am developing work for the client that solves a problem, I am being the best creative partner. I have also believed that the good guy does always win. Maybe not in the sprint, but always over the long distance.

Have you donated to the Dinner Bell Foundation yet? Let's feed the city together.

This donation started in honor of our angel in heaven, Rita, and will be matched thanks to our angels in Dallas. We are almost to our goal of $2,500 to feed front-line workers in the city, and with our donation and match from board member Chris Sekin, this will feed 1,500 men and women. Donate today at DinnerBellFoundation.org.

$2,500 gifted. $2,500 matched. Up to 1,500 heroes served. This Mother’s Day, our own Chris Sekin remembers his mother with a heartfelt gift to honor one of her biggest wishes. Rita Sekin always had a passion for serving others—her husband, her children and everyone she met—especially through her gift of cooking. Rita’s servant’s heart was also marked with a love for healthcare professionals and desire to work as a candy striper nurse. Though she wasn’t able to live out that role on this side of heaven, Chris has made sure to positively impact healthcare lives in her name on earth.

Combining her love for feeding others and her passion for healthcare, Chris has graciously marked the upcoming fifth anniversary of her passing by donating $2,500 to the Dinner Bell Foundation and matching up to $2,500 through the month of May. The foundation works to feed first responders and healthcare workers by partnering with restaurants across the city. By joining us in this Mother’s Day gift, we can honor moms everywhere and help our angel in heaven continue her gift of spreading joy to the city.
