A new year has arrived, bringing with it an opportunity to hope for something better than the last.

But I’d like to start 2021 with an apology to our readers for an intense lack of motivation toward the end of 2020. This comes from me, personally—Adam—one of the partners in publishing for Dallas Coffee News.

We’ve always said that you can trust Coffee News to be free from bad news. “No Politics, No Wildfires, No Terrible Sports Teams!” we often tell our readers. Well, the end of 2020 made it especially hard to put thoughts of those terrible topics aside, and I found it difficult to get excited about posting content here each week. It was almost impossible to shut out the seemingly constant barrage of people shouting at each other about politics and the pandemic—and do I even mention the state of football in the NFC East? Ugh! So, I kind of gave up, because it was easy to put other commitments in front of the mundane task of creating a digital edition of our weekly Dallas Coffee News.

But 2021 is here, and though it looks like we’re not quite through the woods yet, it seems like a light is visible at the end of the tunnel. We’re still not sure when we’ll back to regular delivery to spots around town, but we hope it can happen soon. We know it will be bittersweet when we do as we learn the full extent of how 2020 has impacted our distribution partners. But we look forward to a day when we can see your friendly faces each week again.

So, here’s to hoping 2021 brings back some semblance of normalcy to our lives—hopefully more, rather than less. And sorry for the long sabbatical.

Happy New Year,

The Dallas Coffee News Team

We LOVE the Coffee News and its staff (you da realest, Adam!). I even got a Christmas gift idea from the blurb about 100-year pants! But why does the most recent edition endorse the illegal occupation of the Crimean Peninsula by saying that Sevastopol is in Russia? Russia illegally occupied the territory in 2014, but the UN recognizes that it belongs to Ukraine. 🤔
CONVICT THE MURDERER: The bottomline is Dallas Police Officer Amber Guyger literally murdered Botham Shem Jean, a Black man, in cold bold period. This shameless leaking of the 911 call made by Officer Guyger which was conveniently released right before Guyger’s murder trial. Only proves, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Officer Guyger saw a Black man, and Guyger literally murdered this Black man, Botham Shem Jean, in his own home. Convenient excuses to clear Officer Guyger in her murder trial is totally unacceptable. Botham Shem Jean, a hard working accountant, a beloved son, a dedicated volunteer and Church member, and a faithful friend to many, can not speak for himself, because Officer Guyger murdered Botham Shem Jean. Why? Simply for one reason only, because he was a Black man period. So we must stand up and we must speak up for Botham Shem Jean, and fight for Officer Guyger to be convicted in the literal murder of Botham Shem Jean. Spiritually Officer Guyger can find forgiveness in God, but legally Officer Guyger must be held responsible for ending the life of a totally innocent man named Botham Shem Jean. Pastor Arthur L. Mackey Jr. Senior Pastor Mount Sinai Baptist Church Cathedral 243 Rev. Dr. A. L. Mackey Sr. Avenue Roosevelt, New York, 11575 [email protected]
