Long time no post! Sorry, I'm pretty bad at using Facebook as Twitter and Insta are my primary forms of sharing art - but wanted to make sure I hit all the channels.

This year, I've already been accepted/purchased spots at a couple of artist alleys. I'll make a pinned post on where you can find me, but in the meantime, here's a few things I've been working on (both for the booths and just for personal projects!)

(I expect my booth will be extremely colorful, haha!)

This week I decided on my off hours to take an older image and try my hand at re-drawing it. It was a great exercise to track improvement and also exciting to be able to bring my original vision to life a little better.

Doing personal projects is also a great opportunity to experiment with new styles. In this case, it was lineless art, which I ended up enjoying a lot and will likely try to use for future pieces as it has a fun, vector-like result.

Older piece is from back in fall of 2016, newer is summer of 2018.

Hi Everyone!

Just checking in. I apologize for not keeping this page more consistently up-to-date. With the massive amounts of social channels it's possible to have, I've found that certain other channels tend to get more traction, and therefore I focus a bit more on those.

However! Things are updated a bit here. I've updated my little story along with updating galleries and other small things. There are also some updates to my website, including a new STORE!

During the month of April I will be completing this challenge by Mattydraws on Twitter.

All images will be done on 7 x 10 inch watercolor paper with a Pentel Pocket Brush Pen and gold ink, completed as a warm up or cool down.

Good morning everyone!

I wanted to share a recent piece I completed. This 9 x 12 watercolor is of the Tiefling Cleric, Jester, from the Critical Role show on Geek and Sundry.

The show is, as described by those involved, a show where "a bunch of nerdy ass voice actors get together to play dungeons and dragons." The characters are inspiring and the show is a great watch!

I've wanted to allow myself the time to indulge in some fan work, and Jester's happy disposition and fun design was the perfect candidate.

This is also an opportunity for me to let you all know that my website now has a store section where I will be listing original watercolors like this one, as well as prints, pins, and other merchandise. Check it out and stay tuned for more!

THB designs for a project I’d like to do in 2018.

I went for it and purchased an iPad for myself! I had been noodling on purchasing a larger tablet for a long time, and suddenly saw a surgence online of people praising the iPad Pro and apps like Procreate. I bit the monetary bullet and can honestly say I'm wonderfully pleased with my decision so far.

I've been messing around for the past few nights and here's something I finished tonight while I'm getting up to speed with the feel of things - Coinin, Finley and Kennet II.

My Story

Rae is a Dallas-based artist currently specializing in children's book illustrations and other mixed media art. Rae got their start unexpectedly, as most of these things go, with a simple request from a friend: My husband needs help creating art for a children’s book he wrote. How about it?

Loving to doodle and sketch in their free time, Rae never considered a career in the field of illustration, focusing on Advertising and Marketing and a more “traditional” career path. However, after finishing their first large-scale project “Missing Numbers” for C.M. Healy, they were hooked.

Rae has now shifted career focus to help create illustrations and art for those who needs it, may that be kidlit authors, dungeons and dragons players, or even those looking to give a bespoke and unique gift to a friend or loved one. They still utilize their skills in account management, marketing and creative direction to help guide the process, but their passion lies in putting a hand to paper.

This page primarily focuses on traditional art, as growing up this was a passion for Rae. However, in keeping with the times, digital illustrations are now also available as of 2018.
