In an effort to hold the highest standards for coaching possible, a new national certification for health and wellness coaches has been put into place by the National Board of Medical Examiners. I applied this month to sit for the first administration of the exam and found out today I was approved! In September of this year, I plan to take this exam and hopefully be one of the first coaches in the country to hold this designation granted by the International Consortium for Health & Wellness Coaching. I'll share more about the process as it moves forward!

And this is why I tell new clients to pick a goal that isn't based on weight. While your weight is an indicator and a measure, it is not how you should define your wellness level! What 2,000 Calories Looks Like

I'm not a calorie counter, and I also tend to not ban myself from eating certain foods. I AM a visual learner though, and I do know that some foods are "sometimes" foods - moderation is the key. The visuals here are helpful for those who battle restaurant and fast food portions - could you split the dishes to "give in" but moderate your serving size?

Even as restaurants talk about smaller portions, they continue to serve a full day's worth of calories in a single meal — or even a single dish.
