Chad uploaded the remainder of our trip in one go because the internet has been lagging lately since most people are home isolating. Day 8 found us with another trip to Dublin. On the 9th day, Monday, Oct 30, we traveled part of the Ancient East trail to Glendalough Monastic City and our new AirBnB in Co Tipperary. Day 10, Holloween, we drove to Waterford and Rock of Cashel. Nov 1, we drove to Blarney Castle and drove part of the Ring of Kerry. Day 12, we went to the Cliffs of Moher and stopped in at an artist studio and chatted with the artist. Day 13 we went back to the house in Monaghan to repack and clean things up for Ann Marie. Our last day we spent hours at the airport. Our car had to be back by 7am, our new friend Kahty's flight back to Germany was before ours. So Chad, Sierra, and I slept a few hours near a cafe until it opened. Leaving from Dublin for the US is nice because the immigration check is before you take off back home. You do all the security and everything in Dublin and once you land you go about you business and don't have to wait in the huge lines.

It was so nice of Chad to ask me to do this project. It sent me down memory lane to when I met my husband and fell in love with my new home, Ireland. Kevin and I have started our own Facebook, Instagram, and blog. If you'd like to follow us find us at OurHundredThousandWelcomes. We post every now and then about what's going on here with our animals and such, on me getting accustomed to life in Ireland, and on the things we do and trips we take around the country and abroad. Thanks for reading. -Carrie

We packed quite a few days into this post. We spent a lot of time in the car traveling to these different spots. Day 5, Oct 26, we decided we needed a day of relaxation and explore the sights around us. Chad was told we had to go see Castle Leslie, so we did. Day 6, Oct 27, we drove over to Foxford, Co Mayo, and down to Galway City. I happen to live in this area in the country now! Day 7, Oct 28, was Corrie and Tonya's last day so we planned to spend two evenings in Dublin so we could get them to the airport on time.

Wednesday, Oct 25, was a day that fulfilled our idealized Ireland full of dilapidated castles, rain showers, chilly weather, and rainbows. It was our last day in Northern Ireland. Our Airbnb host had described some local attractions we had to see and explained a few that we could see from the upstairs of the house. We spent the day walking and walking and walking (you see me sitting down in a few because I was over all of the walkings). We even had someone change their pants a few times.

In these photos, I will tag the location as Derry/Londonderry. There is a longstanding feud over the naming of the county that is seen through the Irish (Catholic natives) and the English (Protestants). Londonderry was given by the English after they took over the Island to pay homage to London. Those in the Republic, and who are of native Irish decent, refuse to acknowledge the London. There is a giant history of feuding that led to the Irish Independence and so much more that would be great to research if you're looking to add to your historical knowledge.

By this day we learned it was much easier on us drivers to wake early and be back before dark. Many of the roads were just wide enough for one car to pass, also there was an occasional sheep. So we woke early and made a drive to Belfast. The days were cool, around 50F or so, but just a light jacket was enough to keep up warm.

Since we all can't travel and are obeying the rules from the comfort of home to protect ourselves and our families........ How about we all go on a digital vacation through the country of Ireland and see all its beauty. I will post when I can! It was an amazing journey and I have been waiting for years to share all the photos. Now seems like the proper time! I've got my cousin Carrie, who was on the trip and now lives in Ireland, adding anecdotes about where we went, what we did, and who we met on our 2-week trip. Stay tuned and pack your digital suitcase from the comfort of your couch! #StaySafe #stayaway #dreamofireland #somuchgreen
