Why Is Norwegian Air Charming Transatlantic Flyers?

LexVolo's Edward Shelswell-White provided some background and quotes for this Daily Beast article on the efforts of Norwegian Air Shuttle to bring new low-fare competition to the transatlantic air travel market via it's Irish-based long haul subsidiary. For Congress this comes down to a policy decision (in the short run at least) about whether to favor a few loud voices (airlines and their unions, who oppose Norwegian's presence) and many more quiet ones (consumers, who stand to benefit from it). It's always (and understandably) difficult for elected representatives, even those who usually support free trade, to favor the seemingly non-US interest in cases like this. Unless Norwegian can mobilize consumers on its behalf, they might as well be competing in the Hunger Games. "May the odds be ever in your favor," but we all know they aren't...

American-based airlines may be determined to stop it, but Norwegian Air is emerging as a serious transatlantic flight provider.

In a word, no.

Are big airports losing the competition for passengers?

In a word, no.

Just don't think cascading strategy that's all there is to it. "Execution eats strategy for breakfast.".

According to the Economist, 61% of strategies dramatically underperform due to execution. Our own data shows that companies, on average, lose almost 40% of their strategic value due to execution failures. In response, nearly 9 out of 10 organizations say they’re providing employees with more transpar…

“You Shouldn’t Try To Catch A Falling Knife” 2014.12.15 — Lately, airports all over the country have been asking us one question with great regularity: do falling oil prices mean airlines will begin to grow capacity? This December 12 article from Bloomberg illustrates the airline conundrum. Fallin…

New blog post: Mobile Display Is On The Move https://lnkd.in/eYHKAWJ Excerpt: ...not all digital advertising platforms are created equal...mobile conquesting [means] specifically targeting ads to the smartphones of customers from target zip codes when they are in a competing airport.

Mobile Display Is On The Move This graphic caught our eye, because it jibes with our very recent experience: namely, that not all digital advertising platforms are created equal. As we type this, we’re trying to increase an airport client’s awareness and consideration among target customers who live…

U.S. airlines are saving tens of millions of dollars every week because of lower prices for jet fuel, their largest expense. So why don’t they share some of the savings with passengers?

The "gamification" of the workplace, tracking employees and awarding prizes for excellence or following procedures, sounds like fun but has the potential to stifle creativity and flexibility, says columnist Farhad Manjoo.
