Firehouse Solutions Web Design for Firefighters, Rescue Techs, EMTS, Medics, and All Others Who Save Lives
Firehouse Solutions was started in 2003 to provide state-of-the-art web services for local fire departments. The service was started by Ron Raley, firefighter of the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department. Today, we service hundreds of public safety websites across the country. Many of our team members enjoy the brotherhood of the fire service through local volunteer fire departments here in St. Mary's County, Maryland.

Firehouse Solutions is pleased to announce the launch of several new tools and features. First, we have fully indexed all of your meeting minutes and documents in the Members Area so they can searched by keyword. The search tool supports the following file formats: doc, docx, ppt, pptx, xls, xlsx, pdf, htm, html.

We are also happy to introduce rotating display boards. A rotating display board can be created to transition through information from multiple display boards at a set increment. A rotating display board still integrates with Active911 just like a regular display board. All settings will inherit from the first board selected. You can deploy a rotating display board right now in the Members Area > Website Management > Display Boards.

Finally, we have made several upgrades to our display board technology overall. Here are a few of those:

1. Select a theme for your display board (Dark/Light).
2. Show/hide the widget name.
3. Create a Widget without a display board theme (transparent).
4. Set the transition of a rotating display board to Slide or Fade.
5. Cleaned up CSS so that display boards function on all-sized devices.

Soon, we will deploy an email widget so that a display board can check an email at a set interval and display the information. We are also working on various alert screens and formats to choose from. Finally, we are actively coding a Facebook Auto-Post Auto-Pull feature.

We value our partnership with your organization and if you have any feature requests, we encourage you to register and submit them to our Online Community for further discussion. If you have not yet taken advantage of display boards or any of our other technologies, we would be happy to Assist You and help automate your organization.

Sincerely,
Firehouse Solutions

After a long and exhausting weekend, we are happy to announce that our solutions are running on new super fast servers! A few glitches here and there, but overall things went very well.

Thank you to our customers and website visitors for your support and being the best part of Firehouse Solutions!

Firehouse Solutions will be conducting server migrations on the following date/times:

Friday, September 6 from 2300 hours to 0200 hours - SmarterMail Server

Saturday, September 7 from 2300 hours to 0200 hours - Web Server

During these maintenance windows, web access may become unavailable or intermittent. While we anticipate the task to take just 1 hour, the maintenance window is 3 hours just in case any issues must be corrected during the upgrades.

We will be upgrading from Windows Server 2012 to Windows Server 2019. This upgrade ensures that our solutions remain running on the latest and most secure operating systems available. According to our research, other server administrators have noted significant performance increases after upgrading to Windows Server 2019.

Finally, this weekend's migration will expand our network infrastructure across the continental United States and add additional layers of redundancy and recovery.

Nightly backups will continue taking place, but will now be backed up to the Dallas, Texas data center. Also, disaster recovery servers are running in Denver, Colorado. This gives our team the ability to declare and initiate an emergency failover. During a failover, all systems will automatically switch from Newark, Delaware to Denver, Colorado and remain running as normal. Once the emergency is mitigated, systems will switch back and resume operations in Newark, Delaware.

We are please to offer these upgrades and invest in our infrastructure at no additional cost. But most importantly, rest assured that your data and information are in good hands at Firehouse Solutions.

We are happy to announce that we have upgraded all existing Google ReCAPTCHA security services to V3. CAPTCHA stands for "completely automated public turing test to tell computers and humans apart." Basically, CAPTCHA is a "I'm not a robot" program. But Google ReCAPTCHA V3 works smarter.

Google ReCAPTCHA v3 allows verification if a post is legitimate without any user interaction whatsoever. It is simple Javascript that runs through your website and "learns" traffic patterns and other analytics to produce the best protection policies. This ensures that your forms are submitted by actual humans and not annoying spam bots.

Note: You can now disable Google ReCAPTCHA per database (not recommended).

As always, our team strives to keep up with the latest tools and trends in technology.

07/11/2019

Beginning August 1, our team will begin a process of registering SSL (Secure Socket Layer) certificates for websites that do not not currently have them. This means that your website will be accessed through a secure connection (https) versus an unsecure connection (http). The annual cost of a Firehouse Solutions 1-Year 256-Bit SSL Certificate is $150.

There are a variety of reasons to install a SSL certificate on a website:

1. To prevent unauthorized hijacking of data submitted and received by a website visitor.

2. Web Browsers are now penalizing unsecure http websites with a broken padlock icon.

3. Website visitors are looking for, and expecting, a secure connection.

4. Google recently announced that they will begin flagging unencrypted websites.

5. Credibility towards your brand, service, and mission.

We want to make every effort to ensure that websites powered by Firehouse Solutions are safe and secure. All in all, adding a SSL certificate is a must have in today's fast paced technology environment.

We hope that all customers will support our SSL Encryption Deployment Plan. However, if you do not wish to deploy an SSL certificate, please notify us at [email protected].
