Tips of the trade !
Through my page I hope to share my creativity, design process, and completed projects to inspire and help others to create a beautiful environment.
As a graduate of The Savannah College of Art and Design, I have my Bachelors Degree in Interior Design. I have been with Ethan Allen since 1992. I am Fluent in English and Spanish. Listening to my customers, understanding their lifestyles, and creating an environment that reflects their styles, tastes, and needs is my goal. Making your house your home gives me great pleasure!
Tips of the trade !
Everyone is spending more time at home and accidents are bound to happen , especially at this time of the year .
I always try and recommend high performance Crypton fabrics , especially in the kitchen .
My client texted me this picture of what just happened all upset .
Luckily it was a performance fabric , and with a little dabbing with a dry cloth to get up what was possible then dabbing with a damp cloth , it all came out ! Crisis averted and life saved .. lol 😂 plus we did add a protection plan through Guardsman just in case an accident happened that they could not clean it themselves .

Since we are all stuck at home I wanted to repost some tips for staging your mantle.
In the first two pictures I redid my clients’ mantle with things she had from around her home already. You can see in the third picture how she had an over scaled plain mirror with just a candle on each end. There was no unity or interest created to tie it with the beautiful fireplace .
Instead I pulled items that brought out the color of the stone and layered / grouped them together to make the mantle a focal point.
In a traditional setting I like to group multiple items together and keep them in descending order.
In a more modern version as in the last photo less is more , and 2 simple rings are enough without distracting from the main focus which is the large scale canvas .
Tips for making a bed ...
1. Use a fitted sheet to cover your box spring if it is visible
2. Coverlets are a great way to add another layer with color and pattern. These are what I would use in the summer months.
3. I alway keep a duvet ( or a comforter is ok).. folded down or folded closer to the foot of the bed. ( even over the coverlet). This gives you a more complete and luxurious look.
4. You can add a throw as well for color and texture
5. Pillows are the jewelry of the bed! Make them important.. even if it’s just a few.. they pull it all together.
6. A king bed takes 3 Euro Shams ( the large square pillows which would be against the headboard)
A queen takes 2.
7. You can keep the pillows you use behind the regular shams so you are not always putting them in and taking them out of the cases.
Let me know if you have questions or if I missed anything !
I pray that all my clients are safe, staying home , and enjoying their spaces ! We will get through this !
