SECONDARY COLORS: ORANGE, PURPLE, GREEN Orange is red brought nearer to humanity by yellow. Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises. A garden purple is always in bloom!
TREES, International Juried Photography Call for Entries Trees make up forests and jungles. They stand alone on hillsides creating lovely shadows. From lat. progressus. 1. m. To go forward. 2. m. To grow, develop, towards a goal. PROGRESO is an independent, 15m2, artist-run space for promotion of young contemporary Art, in Escandon neighborhood, Mexico City, founded by me, from the need to generate a development space for young contemporary artist, that was fully organic and autonomous: free from the pressure and ambitions typical of today's Art World (or at least, of the younger ones who want to be part of the Art World.) To cover the bills of an indie artist-run space that's out of touch with institutional charity, corporative support, money laundering, or the occasional dip in daddy's wallet, I've made this Kickstarter campaign, so you can show your love for our gallery with $$$. Your contribution is important, so we can live to fight another day, and aim to higher places with this project (I'm thinking: Foreign exhibitions, or take some of PROGRESO's Artists to an Art Fair next year.) The rewards for your support include Art Publications, original artwork from PROGRESO artists, and a bit more subversive (?) proposal: Be the Owner of this gallery space, have your own contemporary art show, and your 15 minutes - days of fame.
I am a affiliated with this association at this time so please check it out
L.A. PHOTO CURATOR-CALL FOR ENTRY: 'Certain Places' with curator iPhone guru Karen Klinedinst. Prospectus: http://www.laphotocurator.com/current-call-for-entry-certain-places-curator-karen-klinedinst-deadline-august-9-2017 “There are moments when I can wander through my childhood's landscape, through rooms long ago, remember how they were furnished, where the pictures hung on the walls, the way the light fell. It's like a film—little scraps of a film, which I set running and which I can reconstruct to the last detail.” —Ingmar Bergman Klinedinst says, "All of us have a connection to certain places. These places can be a part of our everyday life, or places from our past. We use our selective memory when we see the places we are most connected to. Please share images of the places you feel most connected to—interior and exterior landscapes, real and imagined." Karen Klinedinst is a landscape photographer based in Baltimore, Maryland. She is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). Her landscape photography has been exhibited widely, including: Massoni Art Gallery, Soho Photo Gallery, The Center for Fine Art Photography, Griffin Museum of Photography, and the Biggs Museum of American Art. Her work is in the collection of the National Park Service. She was a 2006 National Park Service artist-in-residence at Acadia National Park in Maine; and in 2015, was awarded an Individual Artist Award from the Maryland State Arts Council. Klinedinst just finished curating the Creative Alliance ‘The Mobile View: iPhone Photo competition & has been busy the past 2 years curating for Two RiverArts Main Gallery, Md & fotofoto Gallery’s Int’l Phone-ography, NY www.karenklinedinst.com 20% of all artist fees go to two charities a month. They're split between the curator's favorite charity and the first place winner's favorite charity. Klinedinst has selected the Sierra Club as her charity: www.sierraclub.org $20 for 3 images. ALL entrants work is shown on their own page with their artist statement, website info, portions of their bio and CV.
L.A. Photo Curator: Call for Entry: 'Nothing Special' with curator Bree Lamb. Deadline to enter July 8, 2017. Prospectus: http://www.laphotocurator.com/current-call-for-entry-nothing-special-curator-bree-lamb-deadline-july-8-2017 Bree Lamb is a working artist, editor, and educator based in New Mexico. She is the Assistant Editor at Fraction Magazine, Project Manager for Fraction Editions, and Part-Time Faculty at New Mexico State University. www.breelamb.com THEME: “NOTHING SPECIAL” Lamb says, "From the spontaneity and unpredictability of street photography to the artfully crafted still life to the happenstance urbanscape and far beyond, photographers have long been able to create powerful, beautiful work drawing from the banality of everyday life. How do you make something compelling out of nothing special? This question has become compounded as the ubiquity of image-making and image-sharing has reached at an all-time peak and is steadily growing through various social media outlets. In a time when we are sharing, “liking,” and viewing more images than ever, how are you seeing and capturing the world around you? This call is looking for well-seen images of the everyday - the benign, the boring, the overlooked. I’m curious as to how you view the world, and in particular how you capture the subtle, in-between moments, people and spaces that are such a large part of our daily lives. Whether found, staged, or manipulated, all subject matter and methods of capture are welcome." 20% of all artist fees go to two charities a month. They're split between the curator's favorite charity and the first place winner's favorite charity. Lamb has chosen the Union of Concerned Scientists for her charity. (Practical solutions to some of our planet’s most pressing problems—from combating global warming and developing sustainable ways to feed, power, and transport ourselves, to fighting misinformation, advancing racial equity, and reducing the threat of nuclear war). http://www.ucsusa.org/ Image by Logan Bellew www.loganbellew.com
