We produced several teasers for the new album release of Neil Diamond’s Classic Diamonds on November 20th!
The 14 classic song collection features new vocals from Neil paired with an interpretation of some of Diamond’s most celebrated hits performed by The London Symphony Orchestra. Recorded at the world famous #AbbeyRoadStudios, the album was produced by Grammy®-winning producer/arranger Walter Afanasieff and co-arranged by Afanasieff and Grammy® winning conductor/ arranger William Ross, who also conducted The London Symphony Orchestra for the recording.

Thanksgiving message from our Founder/CCO...
Much to be thankful for. I formed Hammer+Nail Agency over three years ago completely bootstrapping it with no start up capital and one client. It was my Jerry Maguire moment except, worse, striking out on my own meant I had to learn various skill sets (aside from producing/directing/writing) of the ad & film business that previously were my employee's gigs.
Learning and wearing half a dozen new hats, sleeping two hours a night, renting a fishbowl WeWork space, having conference calls in bathroom stalls, and sustaining myself on one green juice a day and a box of crackers (plus three espressos at times) I was an expired goldfish in the toilet bowl of life ready for that next flush. After 18 hour work nights on the urine-doused F train platform I couldn't see straight, my heart raced, my knees would buckle, and holy sh*t that's it I thought this is how it will end I'll never hear the end of it in the afterlife when I meet my grandma up there. I knew though if I failed as much as I succeeded I'd be alright. Just keep upright, keep going, breathe, focus, and move forward you punk! I won't go into the lows, but there were LOWS. The kind where your Russian immigrant folks start spiking questions about your sexual orientation, potential drug use, and the incessent is-this-why-we-brought-you-to-this-country-maybe-you-should-go-work-for-so-and-so jive.
Hammer+Nail is my third run (with the other two being financially successful yet creatively & spiritually unfulfilling) and my first where I don't play at the onset for the money, I go in with the soul and with my heart now so the game has effectively changed. Success in business, as you become wiser, hopefully, is the comfort to say NO and feel ok about it. Not many can do that consistently, and I surely can't yet on the daily but I see it out there. It's attainable...with the strength and support of friends and family. I typically have always called the shots in any business I've had. Right or wrong. And while that didn't always work out as planned (ahem) I hustled for myself and answered to no one.
Over the last year or so Hammer+Nail has grown and we have a new studio in Chelsea right next to ole Tunnel and Twilo! 🙂. Many of our clients have become friends. We also have a Design Director that recently became my business partner. I'm especially grateful to have such a reliable and creative friend having my back, helping build the studio into a full service brand design agency. We set ourselves apart from the crowd with our unique approach and with our different backgrounds we're able to produce big agency work more economically for our clients and more profitably for ourselves. Being nimble with a well rounded core team, we nurture from the point of hire (we also have 40+ tried & true contractors!). We'll keep doing what we do best as a team - strategy design & video production we're proud of; that holds up for years and creates value for our friends. And for this I am grateful.

We hit the #RightToLeft design talk The Cooper Union with host #WaelMorcos sharing some of his current work from Morcos Key. The event featured a series of #Arabic Lettering posters, the Arabic version of IBM's latest typeface and the process of designing the Arabic counterpart of Commercial Type’s #Graphik; a grotesque #sansserif with a family of 9 weights, and coincidentally our own brand’s font. What’s this all mean to the average human that cares not for high end design? Nothing. But to us design obsessed 🤓s...#everything!

Much needed article for Forbes on Brand-Building Creative by Paul Spriggs / our client System1 Agency. There’s way too much focus on metrics these days (meeting the numbers, bottom line, ROI!) and not enough on the emotional foundation that goes into building a brand. Only thing that works out quick & cheap is brushing your teeth and going number one. Even then! It’s all about the long game — y’heard?!

Hammer + Nail is a Brand Design & Production Studio led by Max Yampolsky and Camille Murphy.
Max is from St. Petersburg, Russia. Camille is from Weehawken, New Jersey. Max studied Cinema, Literature, and Psychology at NYU and has mounted Off-Broadway shows, produced, directed and written commercials and films. Camille holds an MS in Digital Communication Design from Pratt, is a tenure track professor teaching Graphic and Interactive Design, a member of AIGA, and has designed everything from identity systems and responsive websites to best-selling books. Their worlds collided in 2015 when Max was brushing up on his Adobe skills and Camille was teaching the weekend intensive. Camille went way too fast for Max to catch up so Max asked her to work with him instead. The rest is history.
With backgrounds in Theatre/Playwriting, Film/Video Production, Animation, Design, and Strategy Max and Camille lead a diverse bunch of artists, makers, techies, surfers, skaters that create large agency work with the nimbleness of a start-up. All founded on the belief that great design can change the way people, consumers and brands interact with each other.
