CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19) - FACTS vs FICTION (AND STRETCHES OF THE TRUTH) #2

The amount of dangerous mis-information on the web about the virus and what to do about it is appalling. Here are some additional myth-breakers. Please pass them along.

HANDLING YOUR GROCERIES
2-1) The most recent piece of mis-information contained in a video from a doctor in Minnesota who is telling you to soak your fruits in soapy water, leave your groceries outside for 3 days, and to wipe off all your food cans and containers with Lysol. Do you want to ingest Lysol? We don’t. Read the response to what he says:

Op-Ed: Why Bloomberg's Housing Policies May Have Been Fundamentally Flawed

Housing Chronicles 3.1
https://www.gothamgazette.com/index.php/opinions/4217-op-ed-why-bloombergs-housing-policies-may-have-been-fundamentally-flawed

At the beginning of Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s second term, homelessness in his city was at an all-time high: Nearly 40,000 New Yorkers were without homes, which was astronomical considering the city’s homeless population had never reached 30,000 before Bloomberg took office. In response, he laid...

Call for City to Take Aggressive Steps on Affordable Homeownership

Affordable homeownership was an ingredient in the prescription that brought New York City back from the dead. Now, some experts say, it is homeownership that needs saving in New York.

There have been more mass shootings than days this year

Gun violence isn't just about racism, even though as with most things Black and Brown people experience the greatest fallout. Did you know that the number of mass shootings in this country exceeds the number of days. There have been 255 mass shootings in 217 days.

Prayers, Condolences, Outrage, Action

Needless to say, all people with conscience are heartbroken and devastated by the events of the weekend in El Paso and Dayton. It feels like we are back in the age of Jim Crow. To have had 8 years of a Black president who demonstrated dignity and caring, and now to have a white supremacist and hate monger occupy the same office makes one contemplate the rhyme and reason for it. Spiritual people ask the creator why and send up prayers for peace and an end to hatred. This is right to do. However it is not all we can do. Expressing outrage is a start. Write on social media, write to #45 at the White House, write to elected officials, especially Republicans, and ask them to search their conscience. Ask them if the money they receive for their campaigns from the NRA compensates for the endless loss of life because of gun violence. Don't let them tell you it's mental illness! The behavior is escalated by the racist rhetoric. Take more action by joining and volunteering in an organization that speaks and works for justice and racial equality such as the NAACP, Make the Road, and so many more. #standup #fighteveryday #StampOutRacism #NoMoreRhetoric

Council rips de Blasio's home-seizure program

More news about the bogus taking of homes of Black and Brown people by HPD. At the hearing, Torres further noted that those dispossessed through TPT receive no compensation, despite the high value of their buildings and the years and resources they have invested in their homes—which are often worth far more than their overdue bills to the city.

City Council members accused Mayor Bill de Blasio's administration Monday of throwing minority landlords out of house and home. The attacks and allegations came at an often emotional hearing at City Hall as the Department of Housing Preservation and Development defended its seizure of buildings…

NYC Council report -Taking Stock: A look Into The Third Party Transfer Program in Modern Day New York, tells the tale of how Mayor Bill de Blasio's HPD (Housing Preservation Department) and Department of Finance selected 420 properties for foreclosure and took 62 of them. Black and Brown property owners received no equity for their properties worth hundreds and thousands and even millions of dollars when what they owned was not even 1/10 of the value of their property. None taken in Staten Island. Brooklyn and Bronx of home owners targeted. #taleoftwocities
Have a look at the packed hearing. People losing their homes showed up and stayed all day to tell their story and to hear the bogus testimony of HPD

City Council Forensic Study Finds Glaring Discrepancies In TPT Program

Tale of Two Cities Still in effect! The truth about those rising health insurance premiums

Affordable Healthcare Act is not perfect, but it will still be affordable. One of the real culprits of cost are pharmaceutical companies

The ACA health insurance marketplaces are experiencing a rough spell, but they still offer affordable coverage to millions of Americans, says Timothy Jost.
