For @Boucheron's latest High Jewelry collection, Creative Director, Claire Choisne, visited the Maison's Art Déco archives to reinterpret this rich period for the brand, a time when Louis Boucheron received the Grand Prix at the Universal Exhibition of 1925. As a perfect echo to modern-day women and men, Claire has chosen to magnify the couture spirit and the antagonisms of the Roaring Twenties, focusing on both feminine and masculine codes, the opulence of pure lines, and the contrast of black and white enhanced by a touch of color.

We are thrilled with the results of #RACINGPULSE - Phillips’ final 2020 auction held in New York. The sale realized $27,584,570 with an industry-leading 99% sell-through rate. With Aurel Bacs conducting the sale live from London and broadcast across the globe, the sale was led by Paul Newman’s Rolex “Big Red” Daytona, which sold for $5,475,000 — the third highest price ever for a Rolex watch at auction. The sale also set a record price for any Heuer timepiece, with the iconic Monaco worn by Steve McQueen in the film Le Mans and gifted to his personal mechanic, Haig Alltounian, selling for $2.2 million.

In 2017, Paul Newman’s legendary Rolex Cosmograph Daytona was sold at auction for $17,752,500 by Phillips. Newman’s black, red and white dial Daytona was seen on his wrist in countless photographs in the ’70s and early ’80s before it seemingly disappeared, only to resurface and set records as the most expensive wristwatch ever sold.

Coming this December, @phillipswatches will offer one of the world’s most important Rolex watches – Paul Newman’s “Big Red” Rolex Cosmograph Daytona – in #RACINGPULSE, the Flagship New York watch auction. Newman’s “Big Red” Daytona adorned the wrist of the Academy Award-winner for over two decades until he gifted it to his daughter, Clea Newman Soderlund in 2008. Treasured by Clea for a dozen years, its engraved caseback displaying the incredible and loving inscription, “Drive slowly Joanne.”
