Neighbors in a Brooklyn building coop pulled together and made 1500 masks!
In little over a month, residents of 570 Westminster in Ditmas Park volunteered their time and talents to make face masks that were distributed throughout Brooklyn and beyond.
The neighbors created an assembly line of production albeit self-isolated in separate apartments. They were carrying out tasks such as pre-washing and pressing yardage, cutting fabric and elastic trim, and machine sewing masks together.
The masks were donated by the hundreds to local organizations that run food pantries, and distribution centers upon request. They were also made for essential workers, people with impaired immunities, friends, neighbors and family. This Coop building has always been noted for its strong community of caring individuals. The mask task force team was generated from the continual support from these neighbors. Thank you to those who donated time, money, and love! Thank you to @kendascott and @deepeddyvodka for donating fabric for the masks
