Alumni Relations supports all Democracy Prep alumni as they make their way through college and civic life. Founded by Seth Andrew in 2005, Democracy Prep is a high-performing charter network in Central Harlem, Camden, and New Orleans.
Each year, Democracy Prep Public Schools continue to receive "A" grades from the New York City Department of Education. Alumni Relations supports all Democracy Prep alumni as they make their way through college.

Our Speech and Debate team worked hard at Stanford University this weekend and the result was tons of wins including many first place finishes including top school honors!
It's because of MLK's dream and determination for all people to have equal opportunities to tap into their potential that these students are able to test their talent without limits.

AR is proud to announce Anita Ntem as our 1st place winner of the #OwnItSpring2015 competition and recipient of a $100.00 NIKE Gift Card. Anita has joined BICaSO, which is an African-Caribbean club that celebrates diversity in cultures and teaches the students on campus the traditions and news occurring on campus. She recently walked in BICaSO’s student fashion show earlier this semester and is now driven to transform her confidence in leadership on her different runway – the campus of Bryn Mawr. Here is a a photo of Anita shamelessly and fiercely owning the run way with her eyes on the prize! Congratulations Anita!

AR is proud to announce Akeda Riley as our 2nd place winner of the #OwnItSpring2015 competition and recipient of a $75.00 NIKE Gift Card. Akeda has been determined to make a grand re-entrance at Boston College this semester by coming back academically and socially stronger without letting her external, unfortunate circumstance get in the way of her future. The first week of classes I had all my readings and work done two days before they were due. I will be joining the ROTC group on campus, and I will excel by using the determination and hard working mentality that I have had all my life to push me to be the best kind of me this semester.” -Akeda
AR is proud to announce Rachelle Egpeiaco as our 3rd place winner of the #OwnItSpring2015 competition and recipient of a $50.00 NIKE Gift Card. Rachelle owned her spring semester by making sure she attended Mt. Holyoke's Org Fair this semester, despite missing it last semester. Here’s a photo of the Org Fair board to prove that she stuck to her goal and made her way to the fair this time around! Congratulations Rachelle!
“This semester, I paid special attention to this fair because it’s my chance to make new friends who have some of the same interests as I do. This semester I had signed up for “La Unida,” which is a Hispanic organization that brings awareness to Hispanic needs, and is a support system for Spanish people of any race specifically. I don’t have a lot of Spanish friends on campus, so I thought this is a good way for me to meet other women who may have the same needs as I do, and who can understand some of the issues that I go through on campus.” -Rachelle

Sophomore Revolutionary Raenuka shows Mariana the gorgeous new buildings at Drexel University!
Alumni Revolution hit the road to Philly yesterday and visited Raenuka at Drexel University and Anita, Farida, and Massendie at Bryn Mawr College.
"It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be here," Massendie, a math major, said about Bryn Mawr's beautiful campus, supportive community, professors, and staff. We're so happy for them!
Revolutionary'18 Rokia Tounkara, our second place winner of the #IShowedUp Scholarship competition and recipient of a $50.00 Target Gift card for school, said "When I first came to the campus on move in day, I was nervous. There were so many thoughts running through my head. Thankfully, my mom was by my side the whole day during move in day, telling me this is going to be an amazing experience and that I should stay positive. I have met amazing people with whom I have many things in common... I am honestly happy that I decided to show up to Salem College." AR is also very thankful for the positive influences Rokia has in her life. We are even more grateful for her allowing us to be one of these positive influences. Please keep making us proud Rokia!
Revolutionary'18 Tanaya Nicole C, our first place winner of the #IShowedUp Scholarship competition and recipient of a $100.00 Target Gift card for school said "I was not ready to be an adult and be alone. Morning finally came, and it was time to hit the road. I was going to be the first one in my family to set a positive example of continuing my education. If I did not show up to Connecticut College, it would have showed how much of a punk I would be to not stand up to the stereotypes made about African Americans and Hispanic female scholars." And here's her picture to prove it! Tanaya is most certainly not a punk. AR could not be more proud of her!
