“Me in my first office space in NYC. I was renting one desk and wearing all the hats, pounding the pavement to build @cecinewyork. But I’ll never forget that moment when my phone rang and the Editor-in-Chief of Modern Bride magazine was on the other line! She said “I’ve been watching you and I’m excited to tell you you’re being awarded the Top 25 Trendsetter Award!” My heart raced as I realized what just happened. She followed with “this award is also going to industry luminaries like @verawang @oscardelarenta @marcyblum @colincowie etc” and I nearly passed out. I remember I stayed up practically all night to prep (and deep clean) my office for this magazine shoot to make lil ol me look like I belonged to sit next to these rockstars. I guess the gigantic smile on my face says it all. I was actually so nervous. Thank goodness I had my sister there and it was that moment that I looked off and smiled at her that the photographer clicked the camera and that’s the shot they ran full page in the magazine!!
