Catholic Charities of Arlington hosted another fabulous Ball at the Tysons Ritz to raise funds for the multitude of services they provide. I was honored to photograph the celebration for the 14th year.

A sold-out crowd of more than 1,000 Catholics and friends from throughout @DioceseofArlington gathered for the 2020 Catholic Charities Ball. The Ball raised funds to support our work feeding the hungry, housing the homeless, and assisting the most vulnerable throughout the 21 counties and seven cities of our diocese. What an amazing wedding! We began with a chilly, yet gorgeous day and were able to walk about before the lovely sunset. The ceremony was held under a chuppah created from Dan's tallit supported by special family/friends. River View's beautiful ballroom provided plenty of space for the enthusiastic dancing and joyful celebration--bringing together two wonderful families.

Salamander Resort owner Sheila Johnson is also owner of the WNBA Washington Mystics. She brought the championship trophy to the resort and I happened to run into her. I asked if she wanted a photo with anyone and she grabbed her Executive Chef. She mentioned that there will be a parade for the team in the spring when the players get back from their international basketball play.

Friends Meeting of Washington has completed a renovation that took more than a decade of planning with the primary desire to provide easy access for those unable to navigate the multiple sets of stairs. We now have an elevator, a light-filled connected hallway between buildings and a wonderful new garden space with terraced patios and a soon-to-be installed grassy area. This peaceful bit of green in Dupont CIrcle will be a lovely space for gathering among our members/attenders, but also for event and wedding rentals.

I was honored again this year to photograph the TopCops Awards celebrating the bravery of truly heroic individuals. In the 9 incidents profiled, 3 police officers were killed and an additional 7 were shot in the course of stoping violent criminals. Attorney General William Barr extended his gratitude to the officers.

My wedding got published in People Magazine--not a celebrity couple--but because they had a great story of meeting in an Uber. We had a lovely day with the wedding on the Georgetown Campus, a visit to the Lincoln Memorial and then reception on top of The Hay Adams. Catholic Charities, Diocese of Arlington

I have been photographing this wonderful event for 12 years--I'm always amazed at how effortless they make it look in hosting 900+ people at The Ritz Carlton.

Last Friday's Catholic Charities Ball raised essential resources to enable us, through God's grace, to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, heal the sick, welcome newcomers and former inmates returning from prison, and address the opioid epidemic, among other needs within the Catholic Diocese of Arlington.

Chris Newk and I teamed up to photograph a memorable wedding at the National Museum of Women in the Arts. This is one of those spaces that can be totally transformed by candle light and flowers into one of the most gorgeous scenes imaginable--DaVinci Florist didn't disappoint. In a happy coincidence, I photographed planner Rachel Weisman's wedding 10 years ago. This party was non-stop with an amazing band-Jump Street, 28 friends in the bridal party and over 60 Penn State alum. When you are in the midst of wedding photo chaos--timeline too short, shot list too long--it's hard to know if you got it. But sitting back and watching this highlight video confirms that we covered all the intimacy, family, joy and crazy fun.

I had a memorable 4 days photographing the CADCA-Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America Leadership Forum at the Gaylord. There were 500 high school students from around the country who shared strategies in preventing alcohol, tobacco and other drug use. The First Lady stopped by to honor the outstanding youth leaders.

I was glad to assist the Arlington Diocese in covering their Youth Ministry Appreciation Dinner. Many wonderful volunteers were honored.

The Annual Youth, Campus, and Young Adult Ministry Appreciation Mass and Dinner was held on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. More than 500 people gathered to celebrate and honor the work of those who serve the Church through youth, campus and young adult ministry in the Catholic Diocese of Arlington.
