Operating as usual
This week’s staging: a traditional ranch style house converted into open concept by the flippers. Clifton Design Studio created a practical and stylish solution by setting up two ‘living room’ spaces in the large open area. One to the left of the hallway to the bedrooms near the front door, and a more casual one to the right of the hallway and closer to the kitchen area.

Monday’s stage by Clifton Design Studio: a split level in Fairfax. Each housing ‘style’ brings its own design challenge. The job of the stage is to give each space purpose and flow so prospective buyers can see themselves living in those spaces easily.
The realtor assisted the owners of this Falls Church property in updating their condo before going on the market. A lovely light paint over the darker khaki tan, cabinets painted white with new handles over the darker cherry color, and light bamboo flooring all brought this unit to life. Staging by Clifton Design Studio highlights the bright and spacious new look.
Super fun 2 bedroom condo on Columbia NW in DC staged by Clifton Design. The looooong catwalk hall entry posed an interesting challenge, as did the location of the lighting in the sunken dining room. The realtors were wonderful to work with and had the unit completely repainted and removed the mirrors previous owners had installed on both sides of the fireplace. The result is a bright, fresh look that will appeal to a wide range of prospective buyers.

A warm, inviting kitchen where family gathers can be made possible by moving walls or windows and repositioning water lines and appliances. The gorgeous kitchen below was created by removing a wall to a little used room. After the design is finalized we also order and provide the cabinetry from one of our several superior cabinets lines.
Super busy week for Clifton Design Studio this past week. 5 stages: 2 DC condos, 2 DC townhouses and a single family house in Maryland. The purpose of staging is to highlight each property so buyers can visualize how to use each space. Each property presents its own creative ‘challenge’ with windows, exits, and odd angles. Below are the 5 different living rooms we did this week.
And......the “two-a-days” continue at Clifton Design Studio. With addition of two new staff, we have been able to increase the number of clients we successfully serve. Monday we staged two DC condos. Staging smaller properties allows prospective buyers to visualize how they can maximize each space.
Clifton Design Studio has its own version of ‘two-a-days’. Stage/destage days at two different properties 3 or 4 times a week since July have been common. We are blessed to have so many realtors and flippers who consistently use us and refer to us as ‘their’ staging company and also refer us to their associates. Yesterday we destaged a DC row house on Florida Ave in DC and then staged a gorgeous two level condo on 4th. Shout out to our amazing team that makes the ‘magic’ possible and our talented owner and designer Brittany Danielle Clifton.
Staying at home and cooking more because of Corona has emphasized to people all the things about their homes they don’t like and especially how disfunctional their kitchens can be. This is a photo of a gorgeous kitchen Clifton Design Studio designed and provided the cabinetry for in Arlington last month.
Enhanced Remodeling is an outstanding company that focuses primarily on houses in Arlington. We often will design the kitchens in the remodel, supply the cabinets, and then stage it for the sale. Today’s stage by Clifton Design was one of these amazing remodeled Arlington homes by this company.
A photo from one of Clifton Design Studio’s staging jobs was featured in an article on using natural stone. Design Pro is a premier remodeling group that uses our company frequently. In addition to staging services we also do custom kitchen design and supply the cabinetry.
Clifton Design Studio got the nicest compliment from yesterday’s (first time for us) realtor. He stopped by the property at the end of the stage and said he had just been talking to the realtor who recommended us to him. She had told him how easy we were to work with, that we aren’t “prima donnas like some can be”, and that our staging always looks perfect. 💕💕💕 He said how pleased he was with the job we did, how glad he was to meet us, and that he plans to use us again many times. A gorgeous DC townhome off Q street staged by Clifton Design Studio. The client commented ‘It looks like a model home in a magazine.’ We love our happy (repeat) clients! Choosing the style of the furniture, the art and the accessories to blend with the style of the house enhances the photos, the listing, and the marketability.
This stage at Clifton Design Studio was a classic DC older home in NW. Beautifully remodeled and updated, it is in a lovely, quiet community on a wide, tree lined street.

The purpose of staging is more than to just make a house look ‘nice’. The purpose of staging is to define the spaces, to allow potential homeowners to see how each area can be used well and to give each space a purpose. Partial staging, using furniture and items of the homeowners, is a service Clifton Design Studio offers to select clients. We also offer ‘pre-sale’ walkthrough reports to assist homeowners showcase their homes, allowing them to compete in their neighborhoods. This house in DC was staged last week using the owner’s couch, dining, and beds and our accent chairs, art work, and accessories to create a seamless presentation.

A lovely home was staged recently by Clifton Design Studio. An older home in Arlington, it was staged to show the spaciousness of the rooms, using the ‘transitional’ style which bridges modern and traditional styles.
At Clifton Design we stage a wide variety of houses each week as we assist realtors and our clients to present their properties in the best possible light. From large traditional homes in Vienna, to remodeled classic row homes in DC, to small, space-efficient modern condos off K Street, we do it all. A lovely two level condo in Alexandria was staged today by Clifton Design. The owners, on the advice given at the walkthrough, repainted the unit. It now shows as fresh and light.
Lovely remodeled row home in SE DC yesterday staged by Clifton Design Studio to showcase the large open spaces and highlight the retained original features. The owners built an addition on the back, popped the top and added an amazing master suite with huge views of the city, dug down the basement and turned it into an au pair suite and exercise room. A great house waiting for a new family to love it.

A comment from an inspector at a property Clifton Design Studio staged previously, made me chuckle. He commented how ‘real’ all the furniture and accessories looked! He said the house looked like someone could just open the door and move right in. I answered him, ‘That’s because all the things in the house are real, nothing is fake. We shop constantly for fun and interesting items.” I believe strongly that is one of the major reasons for our company’s success. (He wanted to buy our comfy ‘pillow’ chairs’!)

Listening to the needs and vision of the client is one of the traits that sets Clifton Design Studio apart. Door placement vs a larger table is one example. This client felt a larger table would photograph better in the space. With chairs pushed in fully the door was still able to be opened.
Always gratifying when the owners stop by a staging and are blown away by the change to their home. A frequent comment is on furniture placed in a way that works really well that they wished they had thought of when they lived there. Wednesday we staged a condo where the living room had no wall space. Clifton Design Studio shows the space to its full advantage. The owner was very happy.
