Facebook announced a major change in algorithm that will basically suppress business ads, and organically boost friends and family content.
Why does this suck?
•There will be less opportunity to reach your targets organically
Why is this actually a good thing?
•This new algorithm is designed to keep the end user on Facebook longer.
There’s no doubt FB was losing market share (especially the younger crowd) to other social platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, etc...so this is actually a good thing.
Luckily for you, SMS Connected is much more than a “pay us to manage your ads” marketing firm; especially on Facebook. We are slightly ahead of this curve already due to rolling the dice on something we felt was important and it has paid off. We are going to be diving in deeper in this arena to help our clients offset the new change Mr. Zuckerburg implemented.
If you’re doing your own Facebook ads, be prepared to get creative and/or look to professionals versed in this arena. Don’t get upset or surprised when your standard boosted/sponsored posts underperform compared to previous campaigns. This algorithm is specifically designed to do this.
Social Media is ever evolving. Almost weekly there are changes on any of the platforms all designed to help keep end users engaged. Some of these changes organically help advertisers; major changes like this one are ones you have to be aware of and need to plan accordingly.
