ICE announces another extension to I-9 compliance flexibility, no more extensions for employers to respond to NOIs served in March

ICYMI: the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement as extended (again) Form I-9 flexibility for remote hiring until August 19, 2020.

All the "normal" employment compliance still applies during #Covid19 - with sometimes extended deadlines. So don't be caught unaware!

Employers are required to monitor the DHS and ICE websites for additional updates regarding when the extensions will be terminated, and normal operations will resume.

The USCIS released a new Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification on January 31, 2020: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9

What does this mean for my business?
Replace any previous paper or electronic versions of the Form I-9, and/or verify that your HR+Payroll provider has updated their system to be in compliance

What is the Form I-9 and why do I need to do it?
It is a requirement of all employers to complete this document within 3 business days of hiring a new employee, in order to verify that they are eligible to work in the US. If you do not complete within the prescribed time frame, you could be subject to monetary penalties.
